5 Best features of the Moto E5 plus

The moto E series phones have been one of the best budget phones from Motorola for the lower budget range. These phones do come up with one thing ; Huge battery sizes with amazing battery performance that other brand phones find hard to offer (Asus does, but not that efficiently). Plus, you wont be expecting any flagship level performance in a budget phone(except for the Oppo Realme 1), besides an Ok camera and good battery performance are your credentials which you can expect. And the new Moto E5 plus delivers that with perfection and huge efficiency.

The Moto E5 plus is one of the best battery phones that you can buy right now

The Moto E5 plus comes with an intensely huge 5000mAh battery that can deliver upto more than 2 days of battery backup on moderate usage along with a really power efficient chipset. Besides there are other awesome features of the E5 plus that makes it an excellent buy compared to other midrange phones. Curious ? check out below.

BEST FEATURES OF THE MOTO E5 PLUS

1. Well made body

The E5 plus comes with a fancy yet well made and blended plastic body that does look and feel good. The Phone is huge one with 6 inch of space covered up by the screen, being a Full Body display. The E5 plus have Moto's traditional styling of curved edges with round corners which makes it comfortable when you hold the phone in your hand, along with a appreciable grip that does make you forget the plastic body.

2. Full Body Display.
The E5 plus just like G6 plus comes with a full body display for better viewing of content on it. Though its not that high resolution like that of the G6 plus with a 1080p panel, the E5 plus has a 720p display in 18:9 aspect ratio and that makes the phone much better to look. The Full Body display does cover up whole of the front with little bit of space for the front cameras and the sensors. And, you can expect an intense experience when viewing content on it like watching movies, high quality videos, playing games and specifically when using the camera for taking photographs.

3. Balanced performance
The Snapdragon 425 chipset comes in the E5 plus which is kind of perfect for the budget category. Else the 425 is more suited for the E5 plus as its main target is to provide extensive battery life along with satisfactory performance. The Snapdragon 425 consists of four power efficient Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.4Ghz and that's just it. Well, four of these cores are enough for running almost everything well, plus there's stock android onboard, so you can expect good performance. The Adreno 308 can handle the 720p resolution screen well even during gameplay. There's also sufficient amount of RAM (2-3GB for 16-32GB internal storages) for providing all the needed fluency and multitasking capabilities. The 425 is a good chipset, if power efficiency is concerned, else it is one of the key reasons why the E5 plus provides a impressive battery performance.

4. Quality 12MP camera
Earlier moto E phones had inferior cameras, but thats fine unless the price is fit. Well thats no excuse for the E5 plus which comes with a pretty much good price, but the peripherals pay off. The camera is a decent 12MP with a wide f/2.0 lens with 1/2.9" sensor. Thats pretty much good specs for a budget camera, it also sports both Phase Detection and Laser AutoFocus when in need. And as the specs look, the 12MP shooter performs amazing, with well coloured photographs with decent detailing. It does support HDR, panoroma and also Touch Focus too. The Bigger 1.25u pixel size and the wider f/2.0 aperture lens would help the E5 plus snap better shots when the light gets low. The front camera consists of a 5MP or a 8MP snapper with f/2.0 or f/2.2 lens with a LED flash for capturing better selfies. Video recording involves FULL HD 1080p at 30fps which is enough for high quality video shooting.

5. Huge Battery
The key feature of the E5 plus is its huge 5000mAh battery pack that makes it another solid battery performance phone in the smartphone market right now. The snapdragon 425 chipset comes with all power efficient cores (unline few chipsets with higher powered cores that can do extra heavy workload, but in turn compromises the battery life too) which are extremely light on the battery, plus the cortex-A53 cores are clocked only at 1.4Ghz (30% lesser power input compared to other chipsets' cores and 50% lesser cores) which only uses very less power for running the phone at full frequency(including individual core clocking system). Plus, the E5 plus (as all moto phones do) come with stock android that houses some impressive battery optimizations techniques that does help in conserving the battery life to much extent.

These are the 5 best features of the Moto E5 plus which makes it an excellent buy in the budget category.

Various visuals cards have different performances for playing various 3D games. There are two significant GPU Giants there: Nvidia as well as ATI. Why the Moto E5 Plus is the best battery phone?

The Moto E5 plus got launched recently and as of the E series smartphone, this one also comes with pretty much serious hardware for the small price. One of the key specification of the E5 plus is its huge 5000mAh battery pack that can provide almost more than 2 days of battery backup. And that matters  mostly for a budget is to provide sufficient battery performance with other specifications being good enough. The E5 does come with a good chipset, a new quality camera (better than previous E series phones) and with a big full body display with a comfortable body. The E5 plus is now around 12,000 INR (If you prefer online prices).

The E5 has a bigger battery than most of the phones (that have either of 3,400 or 4,100mAh), but few phones do come with 5000mAh battery (Lenovo P2, the new Asus zenfone max pro m1, previous generation Asus max phones), but do they offer better backup? Consistently. But there are flaws that prove that overall specifications of a phone determines the actual battery performance. Is it true? If that is so, the E5 plus can be actually a true battery champion. How? Read below.

The Moto E5 plus is the best battery backup phone yet.

Previous generation E series phone have bigger batteries that gave incredible performance. Most smartphone now-a-days also even come with 6000mAh packs(Allview P8 Energy, Asus Z2 poseidon) but they have little hardware optimizations or very low availability online. That is a problem. So, if few budget phones do come with 5000mAh battery, what's so great about the E5 plus?

Why the Moto E5 Plus is the best battery backup phone?

Ok, the thing is not just with the processors, its about the overall goods. Most phones do come with better chipsets to further lessen up the battery eatup. That works. Some brands provide better optimized chipsets for better battery performance even on small batteries without compromising performance (Samsung with its exynos). But mostly due to under performance high grade chipsets are employed on newer smartphones to provide the needed boost. But that degrades the battery life too as these comes with . However, its not the same with E5 plus. It does come with a sufficiently powered Snapdragon 425 chipset, four of cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.4Ghz with a 720p capable Adreno 308 GPU. The Cortex-A53 are power efficient cores, that run with less energy, thus using less battery power. Plus, the 425 has individual core clock system, that uses it cores only when necessary for a specific task else they are down for most of the idle time when no background task is active. That may cause a small performance difference compared to other chipsets but its no big deal. The 425 is sufficient enough to provide all the power needed mostly during multitasking, provided a 3GB RAM variant is available too.

Regarding GPU intensive tasks, the Adreno 308 is capable enough to run the screen much fluently, as it is just a 720p resolution in 18:9 ratio. Technically speaking, Games will run at good number of fps, although the screen does run at 60hz(that is what qualcomm refers). So, there is no question of lag here unless you induce something much heavy that requires too much power from the processors. That doesn't mean the 425 is unable to run power demanding apps. Almost all apps will run fluent enough along with games. The RAM sizes are too small for 2018 phones but that is more than enough for running the phone smoothly. The E5 plus comes with Stock Android 8.0 Oreo that needs no explanation about huge optimizations regarding performance and battery efficiency.  Camera performance is also good (for the price) with 1080p video recording too (the E5 plus come with new 12MP module that has a bigger sensor, wider lens with laser AF).

The E5 plus provides balanced performance for the price along with incredible battery backup more than most of the phones, which is the key selling point. Compared to other smartphones, the E5 plus has new trendy Full body display that does matter for most users, as it looks amazing and provides a new experience for watching content. And, the phone looks quite cool. The camera has been improved with a better sensor that provides quality photos which most smartphone dont offer.  Speaking of price, most 5000mAh budget phones dont offer that much except for the battery pack. Well, the E5 plus offers almost everything needed. For users who are looking for extensive battery life only with adequate performance, the E5 plus may be the actual choice to consider.

Things you should know when choosing a new laptop

Laptop now becomes irreplaceable in day to day work of any student. There are many manufacturers with different kind of product for the end user to pick. However, it is not easy to choose a laptop if you don’t have a decent knowledge of technology, especially in computer science.
In this article, I will give you some advice on how to choose the most suitable windows laptop for yourself (with MacBook, you don’t really have the option). There will be four categories that I want to focus on: Design; Performance; Battery life; Durability. I will focus on university student who works with their personal computer for most of the time.

1.Design
Over the year, the design language has changed dramatically as laptop become thinner and thinner. Inspiring by Apple’s MacBook, manufacturers have introduced laptop with around 10mm of thickness and weigh under 1.5kg. Go along with the bezel-less trend in smartphone, the screen bezel has been reduced significantly compared with those came out between 2010-2014.
The revolution is also the main focus to meet the need of content creator. Many of mid-range laptop have 1080p screen with decent RGB and aRGB score with is enough for most day to day work and entertainment. If you are someone who works that involve with design or video editing, you might want to pump up to 2K or 4K with better color correction. And for gamer, there also many options with higher refresh rate, from 60hz up to 144hz with or without G-sync from NVidia.
The keyboard and trackpad are very important things; through which we interact with the laptop. The laptop keyboard is usually pretty shallow with short key-travel. Signature such as Lenovo ThinkPad, Dell XPS, and Dell Latitude is a few laptops which can give you the best typing experience in any laptop if we do not consider those gaming laptop with full mechanical keycap. Other than these, typing is just nowhere near the comfortable with a lot of fletches and small keycap. It is not easy to find a windows laptop with a glass surface trackpad in the mid-range product. Most of 2018 laptop ship with Windows precision driver which give you more accurate and Windows 10 gesture control. You can always use an external mouse but make sure to choose the one with a good trackpad, you will appreciate that in the future.

And let talk about port, shall we! Even in 2018, when everybody is talking about USB type C, most accessories are using USB type A. If you don’t want to live a dongle life in the next few years, those MacBook like is not the best options. As a student, you may have to connect with other devices such as projector, TV, printer, mouse… and anything that doesn’t support Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. You will appreciate if your laptop has one or two full-size USB type A to plug in with other accessories directly. If you go for a thin and light laptop, you will have to make some sacrifice in term of port, but make it be too inconvenient.

2. Performances

Image result for intel core i9
First of all, let talk about CPU aka Center Processing Unit. There would be a lot of confuse if we dive deep into this area so I am going to make this short and easier to understand. Most PC nowadays power by Intel chipset which famous for its Core I-X series. There are three level in this series: core I3; core I5, I7 in the order of performance increase. The newer generation the chip is the better value you will out from it. In addition, there are three main type of chip: type U (stand for under-voltage) which focus in extent the battery life, type H (stand for high performance) which overall provide significantly better speed and has more core to handle the heavy workload.
For those who only use their PC for Microsoft Office, surfing the internet or watching Netflix, a core I3 or core I5 type U will be the sweet deal. But for gamer or content creator you will want to get the i5 and i7 model if you want to make thing done.
Secondly, there we have graphics performance. If you don’t do things like playing modern game or video editing an integrant GPU like Intel HD and UHD is enough for you. Another thing you should be considered is that in GTX series, Max-Q design is a mode version of the GPU with better thermal but lower power.

3. Battery life
Most mainstream-laptop on the market have respectful battery life. By using U series CPU, you are going to have from 4 to 12 hours. For gaming laptop, manufacturers have to make sacrifice in term of battery life to make room for the performance.  Laptop does not have the option to change the load from the external GPU and the integrant GPU only last around 2 hours due to the power-hungry component. One more thing to keep in mind that battery life heavily depends on how you use your computer but for day to day normal workload, a three-cell battery is pretty much enough for you.

4. Durability
As far as I have seen, the two most popular brand among college student are ASUS and Dell. You can usually encounter product such as Dell Inspiron, ASUS Zen Book, Lenovo Idea Book… They have lower price compare to their competitor due to the lack of built quality. The chassis is made mostly of pure plastic with low resistant to drop or shock. The keyboard and the screen product a lot of flex which makes the laptop come much more less premium and durable. You should pay a little more or sacrifice some performance to have better-built quality if you did not need a lot of raw power.

What I am using right now is a Lenovo ThinkPad T450, an early 2015 business class Ultrabook. It came with a HD+ touch screen which was quite rare at that time. I did have to make a compromise with the brightness panel and the fingerprint magnet corning glass on top of it. Perform is where I have to give up the most. I’m running an Intel Core i5 5300U and no external graphic card, which was the only configuration I could afford. It has already too weak in 2018 for modern game or video editing but for normal entertainment and office work it can still handle just fine. Battery life and built quality where my laptop shines, as expect of the ThinkPad series. After three years, all the components stay in perfect shape with only little sign of worn out. I can work constantly for four hours with a single charge with my 3-cell battery.

Final though, you need to be clear of your demand before decide to buy a new laptop. Watching reviews on reddit or YouTube to have a full view about the product.

Top budget smart home tech under $50

I'm going to show you some cool smart home products for less than $50.

This won't break the bank and it will help your home become a little bit smarter. Now, this is the first episode so let me know if you want me to hit some different price points. Maybe twenty-five dollars, hundred dollars, maybe even beyond that.
So let me know how you like this.

Top budget smart home tech under $50

  • iotty Smart Light Switch Pro

The first product I want to show you is the iotty's smart light switch pro.

One of the major reasons why I think you would buy this light switch over another one is because of its Italian tempered glass design.

Its touch sensitive, it feels silky smooth and its built-in backlight gives it a really nice touch and it matches perfectly with my home and gives it that modern look that a lot of people are going for right now.

Two major things that I think are important for this version. It gets a new frame and mounting design so much better than the older one.

The installation is just as easy and that new design makes it easy to swap faces, so this is a great option for interior designers.

The light switch pairs with the yachty app, it's compatible with iOS and Android. You can control the lights from anywhere using the app.

You can set schedules and even set them to turn the lights on and off at sunrise and sunset. When you are away, you can make it look like your home, by turning the lights on and off randomly.

You can also use geofencing to let the yachty switch know that you enter the neighborhood and set one of these up in your garage to have your garage door open for you when you pull up.

My favorite feature is having the lights come on when your phone connects to your home Wi-Fi network, so you don't have to walk into a dark house.

When I check these out last time they only have the single-game models but now they are double and triple gain switches available.

So I know some people ask me that in the comment section on the last video if you want to pick one of these up for less than $50 I'm going to leave a link down below for you.

For their Kickstarter campaign, they have some pretty good discounts right now some nice packages especially if you want to get more than one of these light switches. this is a great way to start your smart home instead of buying a bunch of light bulbs you can let this automate your existing lights.

That link down below because these prices are only available for limited time.

  • Fabriq Riff - Alexa

A lot of people like the echo dot because it's cheap and Alexa is amazing for voice controlling your smart home. But if you want something a little bit different and a speaker that stands out then check out the fabric riff.

This is a smart Bluetooth speaker with Alexa built-in.

I like the colors that are available while they might not be for everyone. I like how unique they are, there's a built-in battery so it's portable and it has a few modes to kick on some cool lights that are underneath the speaker.

I think that also gives it a nice touch. It’s fun, you can access Alexa by pressing that talk button and you can link up to ten of these to get that crazy multi-room sound.

It’s really simple and easy to use there's even a larger version called the fabric chorus with better sound.

So I'll leave that link down below for you, but that will cost you twice as much.

  • Google Mini

If you want to go the Google route then check out the Google home mini.

This also has that nice fabric feel and comes in different colors as well. The design is really nice and simple it will fit into most people's homes without any problems.

You can also control your smart home with Google home mini. Same great Google home functionality just in a smaller package and this thing is small but it has the legit sound.

This comes in right at $50 but I highly recommend it.

  • Wemo Smart Plug

One of the first things you can do to make your home smarter is adding a smart plug. And this Wemo mini is cheap and effective.

Right now this thing's about 30 bucks, but it's pretty powerful it has a nice clean white design with a power button on the right-hand side.

So you can just turn on whatever is plugged into it. Pair this with the Wemo app and you can schedule whatever's plugged in to turn on and off at certain times.

You can plug it into a lamp and then you can schedule it to turn on and off at random time. So when you're gone it can make it look like your home as lived in.

You can add as many as you want to and of course, you can control it from anywhere right on your smartphone.

And it also has compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google home, if this and that (IFTTT) And Nest. so this is a great starting point for your smart home.

  • 360 Drop Security Camera

Budget security cameras are something that I get asked about all the time. And while I personally use nest IQ cams they are about 300 bucks.

So it can get pretty expensive, not everybody can afford that. So while I was researching for this post I wanted to see what security cameras are out there under $50.

And while looking on Amazon there was a one for less than 50 bucks and all the reviews say that it's great. So I could pass it up, so I ordered one.

For $35 you get the 720p version and for about 10 dollars more you can get a 1080p one. The budget does look a little sketch but the camera itself isn't too bad.

It has a micro SD card slot that can hold up to 32 gigabytes. So that's a lot of footage. The website says it could record up to two weeks of video. and it supports loop recording which is great.

You stick it on with 3m that comes in the box and the camera is rotatable. Just keep in mind the price point here when it comes to building quality.

There’s an app that you need to download, the setup is pretty easy .there's even motion detection. And you could get push notifications if you want to. the camera records when it sees motion.

There’s a speaker also built into this thing for two-way talk. And you can access your camera at any time with the app.

This is not bad at all for $35. Even though the quality is not gonna be insane, it will do for a lot of people.

There are some downsides though it only supports the 2.4 gigahertz band, not 5 gigahertz, which I wish is supported. but I think a lot of people will be happy with this.

  • Wall Plug Camera

This camera is not Wireless so you do have to keep it plugged in.

This is not really a smart camera but it can be very low-key on the security side if the situation calls for it.

This is a wall plug camera. There are tons of them out there but this is pretty much the most stealth security camera that you can get.

it records off of a micro SD card. 32 gigabytes is the highest capacity. It records 1080p video. Not the best in quality, but it will work for sure in a pinch. You can have it continuously record or have it recorded when it detects motion.

The website says it can record for about 8 hours or so. And then it will loop record which is cool.

This is a good backup if your other security cameras are not in view no one will really notice it there.

There aren't really any smart functions to it but I thought I'd mention it. so what do you think guys?

There’s a lot out there in this price point. but, I thought these were some of the better ones that were out there.

Final Words

There’s not a ton underneath that price point like $25 that's actually worth any kind of quality. Unfortunately when it comes to quality smart home products you have to go really farther up there.

So make sure you check out all my other smart home coverage, ultimate smart home, different things that I've covered because some of those products are amazing and you can build them piece by piece.

So don't be scared to build your smart home because you can start from the lower tier and just add a few things on like smart plugs and then build up to that ultimate smart home.

So let me know which price point that you want me to hit next leave that in the comment section below.

Make sure you smash that like button if you enjoyed this. Make sure you comment on this post your thoughts and questions and share it.

Features you should Expect in your Future Smartphone

Selecting a phone has become harder than ever before. Like, there are so many varieties and options to choose from that easily bog you down. In this article, I aim to guide you through a variety of features which you should be looking at in your phone if you are planning to buy one in near future.

An Infinity Screen

infinity_screen

The current trend carries infinity screen phones to your choice list. These are the screens with almost no bezels on the side and the trend is thinning the top and bottom bezels too. Some flagship phones, who dominate the trend of infinity screen, have even managed to eliminate the bezels, replacing them with a screen which bends over half way to the bottom of the phone; that is what we call an edge screen. And an edge screen on both the sides and minimized top and bottom bezels, Samsung Galaxy S9 for example, make the phone look even more immersive and ever more beautiful. Samsung has been honoured with the title of "phones with a real infinity screen" as opposed to other phones who lack the necessary permissions to put an edge screen on their phones because of the patent Samsung has filed.

Face Recognition

Face Recognition

One more trend which influences the features of today's smartphones is nothing else but face recognition, which had its first flash in the iPhone X, and as Apple stands as an ideal for other companies to follow, the feature found its way through Mi and One Plus, next and in order. Face recognition is a technology that scans the various fixed points on your face measuring the distance between them and storing them as a password which you can further use to unlock your phone. Hence this trend assures that you need to do no more than just looking at your phone to unlock it in future.

Surface Speakers

Surface Speakers

As the screen keeps taking up more space in the front, the companies struggle to affix other pieces of equipment like the camera, the primary speaker and such. While the cameras have been lowered to a small place on the right-hand side of the thinned bottom bezel, the primary speakers cannot meet the same fate. Most surprisingly, in an attempt to overcome the issue of placing the primary speakers the companies have found a way that does not require the speakers at all! Yes, you read it right. The technology which has made the magic possible is what we call, the Surface Speakers. In this, the speakers have reduced themselves to just a vibrating surface, which can be anything, even a screen! That means, now for sound to travel through the inside of the phone to your ear does not require a puncture on the body but the body of the phone itself can act as a speaker! What happens is that a device below the screen makes it vibrate at an intensity, which of course cannot be felt on the cheek, which produces sound. Though this technology has not much introduced itself into the market, Mi MIX has implemented it and it works like a wonder. You should not be surprised to find it on the phones of the coming future as screens leave no space for anything else.

Dual Camera

dual_camera

And last but, of course, not the least is what we call a Dual Camera. As the name suggests, this technique uses two, and not one, cameras at the rear. Why do we require two cameras has not been much explained at any place but it says to measure the depth between the main subject in focus and other surroundings. This, in turn, helps the algorithm to reasonably blur out the surroundings hence bringing the main subject into focus and give shots which come near to the ones that have been taken from a DSLR. Though it sounds hard at first, it has been achieved and works like a charm. In fact, this is the breakthrough which shall be the reason why the DSLRs will find themselves forgotten in a drawer of a cupboard in near future.

Hence, infinity screens, face recognition, surface speakers and the dual camera should suffice as a comprehensive list of the most advanced features which should be expected from any future flagship smart phone.
